No. Chelmsford - Maura Alana McKinley, 61, of North Chelmsford died of inflammatory breast cancer on August 12, 2005.
Born in Lowell on May 2, 1944, she was a daughter of the late William L. and Eileen R. (Daviln) McKinley. She was a lifelong resident of the Lowell area.
Maura graduated from St. Michael School and Lowell High School as a member of the National Honor Society. In 1966, she graduated from Lowell Technological Institute with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering.
Among Maura's many interests, her love of reading and music were pre-eminent. Her primary vocation, however, was the well being of her friends and family. Twice, she interrupted her working career to tend to the comfort and dignity of her mother and sister, Lee as they too succumbed to cancer.
She was also a gifted athlete, starring as shortstop on Saint Michael's CYO softball team for several years.
During her career she worked in the health care and small electronics industries, taught in the Billerica school system and held various positions, over 14 years within the Internal revenue Service in North Andover, until her illness forced her early retirement in March of this year.
She is survived by two brothers; The Reverend Terence E. McKinley and his wife Pamela (Johnson) of Newport, ME and Michael D. McKinley and his wife Cynthia (Pasek) of Amesbury. She also leaves behind her dear friend Kathleen V. Leonard of North Chelmsford and her beloved godchild and niece, Kathleen (Muller) Belanger of Lowell.
Her additional surviving nephews and nieces are Diana (Muller)Katovich of Union Springs, NY, The Reverend Richard McKinley of Scituate Harbor, Deborah (McKinley) Goody of Palmer AK, Todd McKinley of Lagrange, ME Major Mathew McKinley of Harker Heights, TX, Kathleen McKinley Noonan of Thousand Oaks, CA, Brion McKinley of Gresham, OR, and Katherine McKinley of Amesbury.
Maura was also the aunt of fourteen great nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Brian V. McKinley and Eileen F. Tibbetts.
