Dracut – Matthew H. Leclair of Dracut formerly of Lowell, died unexpectedly on Sunday June 10, 2012. He was 30.
Matt was born in Lowell on November 2, 1981, a beloved son of Margery (Tyler) Leclair of Lowell and Ernest and Cynthia Leclair of Hudson, NH.
Surviving him besides his parents are a sister and brother in law, Sarah and Kris Carter of Dracut; a brother and sister in law, Jared and Heather Leclair of Pilot Point, TX; a nephew Kristin Carter; a grandfather Kenny Myers of Dracut; a grandmother Jeanne Conforti of Nashua, NH; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was also the grandson of the late Edward and Margaret Tyler, Shirley Lagasse, and Henry Leclair.
Matt was a graduate of Lowell High School, where he was captain of the volleyball team. Upon completion of college Matt enlisted in the US Army and attended Airborne school. He served as an infantryman in Operation Iraqi Freedom until disability forced his honorable discharge.
Matt enjoyed reading, writing poetry, painting and photography. He had a love of all animals. He volunteered his time at Veterans Administration facilities in Bedford and Lowell. Matt was an active chess player and a member of the chess clubs at the VA hospital in Bedford and clinic in Lowell.
He was a member of the Lowell Disabled Veterans Association Chapter 25.
