LOWELL - Mary D. Pitman, 64, a longtime resident of Lowell died unexpectedly Monday, May 1, 2017 at her home.
She was born in Woburn on May 30, 1952, and was a daughter of the late Wiliam D. Pittman and Anna "Ga" (Reynolds) Brogan.
Mary will be remembered as being a truly selfless woman. She was a single mother who worked tirelessly to give her son the best life that she possibly could. She didn't just talk about how important family and friends were, she showed them in every possible way. She would always put others needs ahead of her own.
In her free time, she was known to put an occasional wager on the horse races at Rockingham Park or cheering on the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins.
Mary is survived by her son, John Pitman of Lowell; her two grandchildren, Andrew Pitman and Aiva Pitman of Dracut; her four sisters, Janice Conant and her husband J. Scott of Lowell, Linda Brogan and her husband Jack of Lowell, Margaret "Peggy" Pitman of Lowell, and Kathleen Lynons and her husband William of Lowell; two brothers, Joseph Pitman of Lowell and James Pitman and his longtime companion Janet DiRocco of Dracut; a sister-in-law Sandy Pitman of Sandford, ME, her daughter-in-law, Melanie Chandonnet of Dracut; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late John Pitman.
