Cape Coral, FL - Mary Ellen "Mev" (Mann) Verville, 68, a resident of Cape Coral, FL and former longtime Lowell resident died Monday February 20, 2017 at Hope Hospice in Fort Myers, FL. She was the wife of the late Donald A. Verville, Sr. who died in 1987.
She was born in Dorchester on February 29, 1948, and was a daughter of the late Harold I. and Marie (Laskey) Mann. She was a graduate of Cardinal Cushing Central High School in South Boston, class of 1965. Later in life, she went on to earn her master's degree while she was working full time and raising her three children on her own.
Prior to her retirement, Mev was employed for many years as a team manager by Polaroid Corp. in Waltham.
In her free time she enjoyed reading books and being a part of her loved one's lives. She also enjoyed writing and had written and published a book of her poems. She was known for always being cold and that is probably the reason that she loved being in the sun, especially at the beach or anywhere near the water. Other favorite hobbies included doing stage performances with the SRO Players, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy every night with her son Donnie, and watching her favorite celebrity crush, Tom Selleck on Magnum P.I.
She will fondly be remembered as trying to be a mom to everyone and she was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it, even if it meant disrupting her life. Many people thought of her as their favorite aunt.
Mev was a remarkable woman who has touched many hearts with her unbiased love and kindness.
She is survived by her three children, Joseph Verville, Nicole Verville-Talbot and her husband David Talbot, and Donald A. Verville, Jr.; three grandchildren, Riley Verville, Kyle Talbot, and Samantha Talbot; her brother, John Mann; and many other extended family members.
