Mark W. Hemenway, 70, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 18, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Kate) Velten Hemenway.
He was born in Albany, NY on September 22, 1951 and was a son of the late Barbara (Turner) and William Hemenway. Mark proudly served his country in the United States Army as an engineer, having graduated from West Point Military Academy. His career was largely in the engineering field with contractors to the federal government. Later Mark received his Master's Degree in Divinity, and served in volunteer capacity at state prisons, county correctional facilities, homeless shelters, and institutions for people in need of services.
As is evident, Mark had two main goals in life. First, was to serve others, especially those in need and to disciple as Jesus taught his disciples. Secondly, was to learn as much as he could. He excelled at both.
In addition to his wife, Kate, Mark is survived and will be deeply missed by his daughter, Constance and her mother; his sister, Joanne Morris (husband Mike); as well as many relatives and friends.
A celebration of his life is being held June 18th at the Salvation Army Lowell Corps per Mark's wishes.
