Lowell - Sister Marie E. Carignan, S.A.S.V., 82, a Lowell resident, died Tuesday morning, August 14, 2007 in a local nursing home.
Born in Lowell on December 2, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Ernest S. and Leona (Bourque) Carignan.
Sister Carignan was a graduate of St. Louis Parochial School, St. Louis Academy, Class of 1940 and Rivier College in Nashua, NH.
She professed her vows with the Sisters of the Assumption and taught in the Archdiocesan School System. She taught locally at St. Louis Parochial School and the former Ste. Therese Parochial School in Dracut. She was also a member of the Human Rights Committee.
She is survived by seven brothers and four sisters-in-law, Oscar and Gladys Carignan of Clearwater, FL, Rev. Armand "Pete" Carignan, O.M.I. of the Philippines, Robert and Cathy Carignan of San Antonio, TX, Charles and Theresa Carignan of Dracut, Donald Carignan of Boston, Wilfred Carignan of TN and
Dennis and Georgette Carignan of Saco, ME; two sisters, Jeannette Doran of Jacksonville, FL and Gloryann Carignan of St. Petersburg, FL; a sister-in-law, Casandra Carignan of VA ; a brother-in-law, Everett Bowers of New Port Richey, FL; also many nieces and nephews. She was a sister of the late Roderick Carignan and Therese Bowers.
