LOWELL - Maria Tassios, age 75, a longtime resident of Lowell died Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Saints Campus of Lowell General Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born in Lowell on January 23, 1943, and was a daughter of the late Xenophon G. and Elizabeth (Bogalis) Tassios. She received her education in Chelmsford schools and was a graduate of Chelmsford High School, class of 1962.
Prior to her retirement, Maria was employed as a meat wrapper for many years at several Market Basket locations throughout the years, most recently in Burlington.
Maria was an avid knitter and enjoyed shopping and spending time online. However, her greatest joy came from spending time in the company of her loving family.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Nadeau and her companion Robert Valkavitch, both of Lowell; three grandchildren, Cory Nadeau and his wife Ashley, Paul S. Nadeau, and Elizabeth Nadeau, all of Lowell; four great grandchildren, Natalie, Robert, Julie, and Arina; two sisters, Dorothea Zahos and her husband Chris of Westford and Xandra Sharron and her husband Joe of Maine; her companion, Paul W. Rancourt of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews, including her god sons, Joseph Sharron and James Eastwood.
She was also the sister of the late George X. Tassios.
ARRANGEMENTS - Relatives and friends are invited to attend Maria's Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Monday, November 26th from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Maria's memory to the National Kidney Foundation, 209 W Central St, Natick, MA 01760.
