Maria A. (Meneses) Borges

Maria A. (Meneses) Borges, beloved wife of Carlos R. Borges passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019 at the Lowell General Hospital - Saints Campus surrounded by her loving family. Maria was 70 years old.

Born in Terceira, Azores, Portugal on March 28, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Luis and Maria Bernadette (Borges) Meneses.

Maria and her husband emigrated to the United States in 1974, settling in the Back Central Street neighborhood of Lowell. She worked for many years as an inspector at Joan Fabrics.
In recent years, with her health declining, she enjoyed the company of her family and friends at her home including her sister and Frankie's baby Emelia Leandro. Being surrounded by them gave her joy.
Family was the main focus in Maria's life, as she was the main caregiver for her son Robertinho, 45 years old, who has cerebral palsy and has been confined to a wheelchair his whole life.

Surviving her besides her husband Carlos is their son Roberto Borges of Lowell; a brother and sister in law Josezinho and Fatima Meneses of Terceira, Azores, Portugal; a sister and brother in law, Maria Margarida and Valquiro Leandro of Tewksbury; nieces and nephews, Susana Meneses of Terceira, Azores, Portugal, Lubelia and Roberto Vasconcelos of Terceira, Azores, Portugal, Frank Leandro and his girlfriend Krystina Bonilla of Tewksbury, and Nuno Meneses and his girlfriend Patricia Cetano of Lowell

Relatives and friends are invited to Maria's Life Celebration at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street from 2 until 6 PM on Sunday. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 893 Central St., Lowell on Monday at 10:00 AM. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery.
