Margaret Locke … age 80, loving wife, mother, grandmother
LOWELL – Margaret “Peggy” (Welch) Locke, 80, died Saturday morning, January 22, 2011 at Saints Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of Richard A. Locke, Sr., with whom she would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September, 23, 2011.
Born in Lowell on September 13, 1930, she was a daughter of the late James “Luke” Welch and Sarah (Flaherty) Welch.
Mrs. Locke was a lifelong resident of the Centralville section of Lowell. She was a graduate of Keith Hall Catholic High School, class of 1949.
Mrs. Locke enjoyed games of chance and she enjoyed travelling to Foxwoods Casino, Atlantic City and Las Vegas to play them. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons, Richard A. Locke, Jr. and his fiancée Cindy Irons, of Dracut and James W. Locke and his wife Diane I. Locke of Lowell; two daughters, Janice M. Creighan of Billerica and Peggy Sayer Trullo and her husband Steve Trullo of Dracut; a brother, Thomas Welch and his wife Nita Welch of Dracut; 10 grandchildren, Jillian Locke, Steven Locke, U.S. Army stationed in Kuwait, Caitlin Hibbard and her husband William Hibbard, James M. Locke, Michael Locke, Cody Mitchell, Chelsea Mitchell, Matthew Sayer, Nathan Sayer and David “Dewey” Sayer; also several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews. She leaves her lifelong and dearest friend, Terry Sousa of Ohio. She was the sister of the late James, Raymond and Edmond Welch, and Marion Rowe.
