Margaret L. “Peggy” (Callahan) Rose, age 79, a resident of Derry, NH and former resident of Naples, ME and Dracut died Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Rose, who died in 2021.
She was born in Lowell on August 11, 1944, and was a daughter of the late George and Lillian (Murphy) Callahan. She was raised on her families farm, Callico Farm in Dracut and was a graduate of Dracut High School, class of 1962.
Prior to her retirement in 1999, Peggy was employed for 25 years as a payroll administrator by Greater Lowell Regional Vocational Technical High School in Tyngsboro. Earlier in life she was employed by the Dracut Public Library as well as Avco Corporation in Wilmington.
In her free time she enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques and Annalee Dolls, and spending time in Maine and the White Mountains in New Hampshire.
Peggy was very proud of her Irish heritage.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Christine Vallante of Dracut; two daughters, Lori Vallante of Intervale, NH and Jodi Vallante of Salisbury; five grandchildren, Amanda Vallante of Nashua NH, Emily Vallante of Dracut and Erica Notini, Lucas Notini and George Notini, all of NH; a sister and Irish twin, Roberta Golden of Windham, NH; a sister-in-law, Judy Callahan of Hudson, WI; dear friends, Theresa and William Clancy of Dracut; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Laurence Callahan, Martin Callahan, Elizabeth Silva, Cynthia Langton and Martha Callahan. She was also the sister in-law of the late Edward Silva, John Golden and Joseph Langton.
Peggy’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to Pathways Hospice for the compassionate care provided during her final days.
Relatives and friend are invited to attend Peggy’s Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Wednesday, March 6th, from 9:00 until 11:00am followed by her Graveside Service at 11:45am at St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peggy’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
