DRACUT - Margaret J. (Murphy) Golden, 86, a resident of Dracut, died Friday morning, July 20, 2007 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Bernard B. Golden, Jr.
Born in Lowell on July 26, 1920 she was a daughter of the late Mary Ellen (Kiernan) Murphy and James R. Murphy.
Mrs. Golden attended Lowell Schools and during World War II worked for the Lowell Parachute Company as a seamstress and packer. She worked as a waitress for many years at the former Princeton Inn in Dracut and later at the Coq' Dor Restaurant in Dracut.
She was a devout Catholic and was a longtime parishioner of Ste. Marguertite D'Youville Parish in Dracut.
Mrs. Golden enjoyed spending time with her grandson Robbie and with her family and many friends. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and taking side trips with her family.
She was especially loved in her neighborhood and will be thought of and remembered as a second mother to many of her children's friends.
She is survived by her loving children and grandson with whom she resided, her daughter, Mary Lee Matthews, her son, Patrick J. Golden and her grandson Robert F. Matthews, Jr., all of Dracut; her Godchildren, Carol Ilg of Pelham, NH and David Wiggins of Springfield; her sister-in-law, Gertrude Golden of Lowell; many devoted nieces and nephews. She was a sister of the late Bernard Murphy, Mary Wiggins and Rose Jozokos. She also leaves a large extended family. She touched many lives and was loved by all. She will always remain in our hearts.
