DRACUT – Margaret I. “Peggy’ (Morris) Bamford, 86, a Dracut resident, died Monday, January 10, 2011 at a local health care facility. She was the wife of the late Edward F. Bamford.
Born in Lowell on April 11, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Margaret (Crowe) Morris.
Mrs. Bamford was educated in Lowell Schools. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Bamford was employed by the City of Lowell as a police officer.
During World War II, Peggy served with the Waves in the United States Navy from 1944 until 1945.
She was a lifelong communicant of St. Michael Church and was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality, the League of Catholic Women and the St. Dominic Club.
Peggy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Warren T. and Patricia A. (Connelly) Bamford of Bradford ; her daughter and son-in-law, Mary M. and Robert D. Turcotte of Dracut; four grandchildren, John E. Bamford and his wife Melissa, Daniel J. Bamford, Katie A. Turcotte and Timothy Bamford; also several nieces and nephews. She also leaves dear friends, Lynne and John Tiechert of Lowell. She was a sister of the late Edward L. Morris, Sr., Leo, Bernard, Vincent, John, Joseph and Bennett Morris, Agnes McInerney, Imelda Morris and Mary Driscoll.
