MAYNARD - Madeline Margaret (Coutu) Ackerman, 80, a longtime resident of Maynard died Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald Ackerman, who died in 2016 and the loving mother of the late Cynthia James who died in 2011.
She was born in Lowell on January 3, 1938, and was a daughter of the late Henry and Theresa (Pozzi) Coutu. She attended St. Peter Grammar School and was a graduate of St. Patrick High School, both in Lowell.
Prior to her retirement, Madeline along with her husband, was the owner of AC Western Wear in Littleton. Earlier in her career, she was employed in the banking industry.
She loved to country line dance with Don. She also enjoyed spending time in the company of her family and friends.
She was a member of the Weston United Methodist Church. When her son was young, she was actively involved in the Cub Scouts of Lowell.
Madeline is survived by her son, Michael Ackerman of Maynard; five grandchildren, Ryan, Robert, Morgan, Ashley, and Matthew; sixteen great grandchildren; her brother, Henry Coutu of Lowell; her sister and brother-in-law, Lela and Roland Maille of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Roseline Reynolds.
ARRANGEMENTS - Relatives and friends are invited to attend Madeline's Memorial Service on Wednesday, June 20th at 5:00 PM at the Weston United Methodist Church, 377 North Ave, Weston, MA 02493. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Madeline's memory to the Weston United Methodist Church.
