M. Doris Chalifoux

DRACUT - M. Doris (Coutu) Chalifoux, age 91, a resident of Dracut died peacefully Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Raymond Chalifoux who died in 2006.

She was born in Lowell on February 19, 1929, and was a daughter of the late Eugene and Alma (LeBoeuf) Coutu. She received her education in Lowell schools and was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, where she was president of the class of 1948, which she was very proud of.

Doris retired from Genesis Software Company in Methuen. Prior to that she was employed by Wang Labs and Mahoney Oil, both in Lowell. Earlier in her career, she was employed for 25 years as a supervisor by Lowell Five.

She was a longtime communicant of Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Church in Dracut.

Doris loved life and lived it to the fullest. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, and visiting with friends and relatives. She also loved playing bingo and her trips to Foxwoods.

She is survived by her two daughters, Donna M. Alexander of Sterling, VA and Paula M. Chalifoux of Dracut and with whom she resided; a sister, Sr. Gertrude Coutu of Lowell; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

She was also the mother of the late Paul R. Chalifoux, and the sister of the late, Gerald, Henry, Herve, Wilfred, Lionel, Maurice, and Roland Coutu, Lillian Myers, Yvonne Amatisto, and Rita Mastrullo.

CHALIFOUX - Relatives and friends are invited to attend Doris' Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 10:00am at Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Church, 1340 Lakeview Avenue in Dracut Her burial was in January in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford. A public Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Doris at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Doris' memory to the Alzheimer's Association of MA, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.
