Lynne A. Gonyea

Lynne A. (McIntyre) Gonyea of Lowell, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024 after a long illness. She was the daughter of William F. and Ann Mary “Nancy” McIntyre of Providence, Rhode Island.

She is survived by her loving husband, Arthur, her mother-in-law, Yvette Gonyea; as well as many friends and coworkers.

Lynne graduated with an associate’s degree in nursing from Salem State College and went on as a LPN, caregiver and social worker helping troubled teens, the elderly and the disabled. A compassionate, generous and diligent worker who put people first in her profession, she later became a patient services representative at Lowell General Hospital.

She expressed her thanks to those who visited her and to all the hospital and nursing home staff who treated her and made her last days as comfortable as possible under the circumstances.

Lynne loved to travel to scenic and historic places, dine, go to lighthouses and hot air balloon festivals. She was an avid reader, loved Disney, music, comedy, theatre and movies, as well as having a keen interest in history, especially of the British Isles as she was of Irish heritage.

At her request, there will be no viewing or funeral and in lieu of flowers, all may make a donation in her memory to the Massachusetts Humane Society Inc., Animal Shelter, aka MHS, PO Box 850177, Braintree, MA 02185.
