Lowell - Lucille E. (Schurman) Gingras, a resident of the Belvidere section of Lowell, beloved wife of the late Armand C. "Sonny" Gingras, died on Monday May 13, 2013 following a brief illness. She was 95.
Lu was born in Lowell on April 1, 1918, a daughter of the late Frank Henry and Meader Abby (Haynes) Schurman.
In earlier years she was employed as a stitcher and dress maker for local dress shops. Lu loved sewing. She enjoyed making clothing for her children and grandchildren. Lu also had a great affection for the Merrimack River, and adored her home on the river where she lived for over 40 years.
Lu was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Lowell, the Navy's Fleet Reserve in Boston, the Centralville Senior Citizen Club, and the Dracut Senior Citizen Club.
Lu is survived by a son, Thomas H. Frankland, Jr. of Lowell; a daughter, Barbara Calhoun of Beverly Hills, FL; a stepson Richard R. Gingras and his wife Valerie of Dracut; a sister Jeanne Beverly Volis of Lowell; seven grandchildren, Stephen Calhoun, Kathleen Mendonca, Sharon Ozana, Diane LeBlanc, Alicia Higginna, Kimberly Murphy, Jennifer Frankland; twenty seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
