Lucille D. DerGarabedian

Lucille (Ducharme) D. DerGarabedian, 76, a resident of Lowell, MA, died Friday, December 2, 2022 at D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell. She was born in Lowell on January 22, 1946, and was the daughter of the late Armand R. and Blanche E. (Levesque) Ducharme. 

Lucille received her education at Saint Michael Elementary School and earned her high school degree from Lowell High School. 

Prior to her retirement, Lucille worked for the City of Lowell Schools as a cafeteria worker, most recently at Henry J. Robinson School. Past employment includes Honeywell, ComFed Mortgage Company, and the Massachusetts Superior Court. 

Lucille has always enjoyed being part of the Centraville community where she lived, taking on side jobs such as delivering The Lowell Sun door-to-door, and serving in the role as a poll worker on Election Day.

Known as “Lucy” to her close friends, she had a fun sense of humor. She enjoyed doing housework, however, her favorite social activities involved holding and attending yard sales, and the Lowell High School’s Class of 1964 reunions. Stray cats, wounded birds, and other wildlife had the pleasure of knowing her loving care. All of the pets she’s owned in her life were treated as if they were family members.

She is survived by her only child, her daughter Sandra J. Derian; her sister Jean Foley, sister and brother-in-law Rita and Donald Lavigne, Sr., nephews Richard and Donald Lavigne, Jr., and nieces Michele Foley, and Rita (Foley) Pietraallo, as well as several grand nieces and a great nephew.

Lucille’s family would like to thank the staff at D’Youville Senior Care and Nanci Morton, CNA, for their care and compassion throughout her stay there.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Lucille’s Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Thursday, December 8th from 9:00 until 11:00am followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00am at the funeral home.  Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lucille’s memory to the Lowell Humane Society,  951 Broadway St., Lowell, MA 01854.
