DRACUT- Lucille C. (Sevigny) (Lavallee) Baxter, 81, wife of John T. Baxter, a resident of this town for over 50 years, died Thursday, September 9 at Saints Memorial Medical Center.
Born in Lowell on June 22, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Alphonse Joseph and Diane (Ouimet) Sevigny. She was educated in local schools.
She was a very active communicant of St. Francis Church in Dracut. A former resident of the Highlands section of Lowell, she was a member of the Dracut Senior Citizens' Club, the Council on Aging, the Dracut Arts and Crafts Guild, the Jeanne Manse and the USS Ranger Reunion Group. She also worked the polls in Dracut for many years.
Prior to her retirement, Lucille had been employed as a sales clerk for over 30 years at Cherry & Webb and she also worked at the Bon Marche and Prince Cotter, all in Lowell.
Surviving her beside her husband of 56 years are a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Lee and Michael W. Cutler of Loudon, NH; three sons and two daughters-in-law, J. Thomas and Phyllis (Tobin) Baxter of Dracut, Gary P. and Michelle (Ouellette) Baxter of Franklin and Stephen K. Baxter of Dracut; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Conrad and Jeanne (Lemay) Sevigny of Dracut and Paul J. and Irene (Blanchette) Sevigny of Port Orange, FL; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Levasseur of Lowell and Theresa and John Condon of Falmouth; also 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also the wife of Francis Lavallee who died in an airplane crash in Texas during WWII while learning to be a pilot in the Army Air Force. She was the sister of the late Pearl Brunelle Lamarche, Lionel, Roger and Gerard Sevigny.
