Luanne Marie Hurley, RN … Devoted and Caring Nurse
DRACUT - Luanne Marie Hurley, RN, age 72, died on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the Lowell General Hospital
Luanne was born in Lowell on August 7, 1952, to the late John Thomas and Rita (Coffey) Hurley, the first of their five children.
Raised in Lowell and Dracut, she received her early education at Saint Michael Parochial School. She graduated from Keith Hall, Class of 1970, where she was a member of the basketball team.
Luanne pursued her passion for nursing, so she studied and worked at Tewksbury State Hospital and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. In 1975 she graduated from Northern Essex Community College, and achieved her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. Her career as a Registered Nurse was marked by her dedication and compassion. Luanne was one of the first endoscopy nurses in Lowell. She was kind, generous, a hard worker respected by her peers.
Luanne also was employed at Saint John’s Hospital, Lowell General Hospital and local nursing homes. For 38 years she was a devoted and caring nurse to her patients until her retirement in 2008.
Luanne enjoyed time spent with her family and friends celebrating special occasions, and watching and attending Boston Red Sox baseball games.
She spent her recent years at Saab Residence Assisted Living and D’Youville Senior Care, where she actively participated in social activities.
A dear sister Luanne is survived by her brother, John J. Hurley of Dracut, her brother Charles F. (Deborah) Hurley of South Carolina, her sister, Elaine M. Hurley of Dracut, and her brother, Thomas V. Hurley of Provincetown. Luanne was the loving Godmother to her nephew Jason S. Hurley, and aunt to Jami Lee Hurley. She also leaves grandnieces, Sailor and Indy Hurley and Lily and Hannah Steadman and grandnephew Jakob Steadman, all living in NH.
Relatives and friends are invited to Luanne’s visitation on Monday morning, Nov. 4, from 9:30 until 11:00 AM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street. Her Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 12:00 PM in St. Mary Magdalen Church, Tyngsboro. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
