Lou was born in Lowell on December 16, 1936, a son of the late Gabriel (Brouder) and Eugene Poisson. He resided in Dracut for many years with his wife Claire, prior to moving to Salisbury several years ago and then moving to Tyngsboro, to be closer to his family and grandchildren.

Lou, during his retirement years, worked part-time at the Anna Jacques Hospital in janitorial services and at Lowell General Hospital, volunteering in the Cancer Center.
He enjoyed doing woodworking, taking pictures and traveling with Claire. When Claire was alive, they traveled by motor home across the country. Their adventures took them from Lowell to San Diego, a trip that took seven months and experiences that ranged from kayaking, fishing and ziplining. They visited the Canadian Rockies, Alaska and Branson, Missouri for a country music fix.
Surviving Lou, are his three children and their spouses, Mark and Catherine Poisson of Chelmsford, Catherine and Paul Sullivan of Dunstable and Louise and Edward Santos of Dracut; five grandchildren, Alyssa Poisson, Ryan Poisson, Kyle Santos and his wife, Jacob Santos, USAF, his wife and their children and Patrick Sullivan; a brother, Paul Poisson and companion, Amy Gust of Nashua, NH. Lou is pre-decreased by his sisters, Pauline (Poisson) Ducharme and Joanne (Poisson) Grenier.
