CHELMSFORD - Early in the morning on Tuesday December 13, 2016, Lorraine Y. (Byron) Finnegan, 81, a resident of the Palm Center, passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved her. She celebrated 50 years of marriage with her husband the late John P. Finnegan.
Born in Lowell on December 9, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Ovid and Yvonne (Larrivee) Byron. For many years, Lorraine was a resident of the Centralville section of the city and was a communicant of St. Michael Church.
In her younger years, Lorraine was full of adventure and enjoyed camping and traveling with her family and friends. Family time was what mattered most to Lorraine, especially making fond memories with her grandchildren. She loved to joke and make people laugh. One of her favorite pastimes was playing cards, especially with her Aunt Lorraine, Bea, Ann and the girls. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Finnegan was employed by the Raytheon Corp. as a switchboard operator, she babysat and was a wonderful housewife and kept an impeccable home.
Lorraine is survived by four children, Colleen Dubuc and her husband William of Dracut, Jean Ann Finnegan of Nashua, NH, David Finnegan and his companion Linda Poulin of Dracut and Daniel Finnegan and Lisa of Lowell; a sister, Pauline Serwatka and her husband William of Dracut; four grandchildren, Brandi Finnegan, Daniel Finnegan, II, Kevin Dubuc and Emily Dubuc; a great grandson, Aiden Patrick Finnegan; her Godson, William Serwatka, Jr.; her Aunt, Lorraine Boucher of Dracut; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in Ireland; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a sister of the late Richard Byron and his wife Pauline.
