Lorraine E. Cannon

June 29, 1930 — May 26, 2025

Dracut

Lorraine E. (Levasseur) Cannon, 94, of Dracut, loving mother of eight wonderful children, grandmother of 14 adoring grandchildren and great-grandmother of 12, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on May 26, 2025. She is survived by her children, Ann Marie Cannon of Dracut, Carol Hervieux and her husband Dennis of Chelmsford, Catherine Ayotte of Dracut, James Cannon and his wife, Carol of Dracut, Nancy Rondeau and her husband, Ronald of Dracut and John Cannon and his husband, Carmen of Marblehead, MA.

She is predeceased by her husband of 30 years, James Cannon and her two sons, Lawrence and Peter, all of whom died too soon.

Lorraine was born in Lowell on June 29, 1930 to Blanche (Dion) and Emile Levasseur. She was the proud sister to six brothers and sisters, three who predecease her; Robert Levasseur, Doris Erickson and Paul Levasseur. Her other siblings whom survive her; Yvette Graham of Dracut, Helen Belanger of Atlanta, GA and David Levasseur and his partner, Rita Emond of Dracut will greatly miss her.

All who knew Lorraine were lucky to experience her sarcasm and stubbornness, but will miss her incredibly genuine hugs and contagious laugh. She enjoyed traveling and activities such as ice skating, water skiing and gardening. A skilled bowler, she was once featured in the Lowell Sun for bowling nine strikes in a row. She revered time spent with friends such as Pauline Rondeau and loved playing card games (and cheating) with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Lorraine was a talented cake decorator and several of her children were fortunate enough to have her make their wedding cakes.

Although saddened and overwhelmed by Lorraine’s passing, her family finds solace in her Heavenly rest. She was a force in our world and will be so incredibly missed. Her smile, love and genuine appreciation of life will be eternally cherished. Her faith and daily rosary provided comfort her whole life and was an immense source of strength until the end. A special thank you to Tufts Hospice Care, especially her dedicated caregivers, Danielle and Esther.

Relatives and friends are invited to Lorraine’s Funeral Mass on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 10 AM at ST. RITA CHURCH, Lowell. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. All are invited to join with the family afterwards at Princeton Station, 147 Princeton Street, North Chelmsford, MA 01863. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lorraine’s memory to the National Kidney Foundation at support.kidney.org.
