LOWELL - Lionel A. Brunelle, 92, a Lowell resident, died Saturday evening December 17, 2016 at the Lowell General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Yvette (Plamondon) Brunelle.
Born in Lowell on September 11, 1924, he was a son of the late Anatole and Elodie (Favreau) Brunelle.
Mr. Brunelle served with the United States Navy during World War II and received the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal.
A long time resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, he was a communicant of the former St. Louis de France Church and was a member of the Veterans of St. Louis.
His pastimes included fishing, doing carpentry work, and playing cards with friends at Bruyere Gardens.
Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Mr. Brunelle is survived by a son, Louis G. Brunelle and his wife Suzanne of Sandwich, NH; two daughters, Diane C. Doherty and her husband Timothy of Westford and Gloria T. Brunelle-Herlihy and her husband Joseph of Merrimack, NH; four grandchildren, Stacey Doherty, John Doherty and his wife Amber, Phillip Brunelle and Nicholas Brunelle; four great grandchildren, Andrew, Brodie, Logan and Jaxson; also several nieces and nephews.
