Lillian N. (Zaniewski) Prudhomme

August 27, 1922 — January 22, 2013

Lillian Prudhomme, a resident of the Town and Country Health Care Center since 2003, passed away from natural causes at Lowell General Hospital on January 22, 2013.

Lillian was born on August 27, 1922. She survived polio as a young child, and in her teenage years left school to help support her family during the Great Depression. Lillian worked in the Lowell mills stitching shoes.

She was married in 1953 and became an Air Force wife who traveled around the United States with her family. They returned to Massachusetts and settled in Dracut, MA.

Lillian was an avid knitter who was also loyal to her soap-opera stories. She secretly took driving lessons and surprised her family with her first driver's license at the age of 55. Lillian was a homemaker with an independent spirit who also understood the benefits of chocolate.

She was predeceased (2000) by her husband of 47 years, Arthur Prudhomme; parents Lucien and Blanche (Zimny) Zaniewski; a brother Edward Zaniewski; a brother Leo Zaniewski, and brother-in-law Frank Yeschanin.

Lillian is survived by her son, Edward Prudhomme and daughter-in-law Claire, of Kittery, ME; a daughter, Debra Prudhomme, of Rockport, MA; a sister-in-law Alice Zaniewski, of Lowell, MA, and her much loved sister/best friend Dorothy Yeschanin, of Lowell, MA. She is survived by several nieces and a nephew and several grandnieces, among whom are Donna Paquette (Yeschanin) and her husband Jimmy, of Lowell, MA, and their daughter Jessica, of Rowley, MA; Frank Yeschanin and his partner Sue and their daughter Sabrina, of Hudson, NH; and Linda Roberge (Yeschanin) and her husband Ray, of Nashua NH, and their daughters Alyssa and her partner Sharon, of Amherst, NH, and Bethany, of Buxton, ME.

She will be missed by family and friends, the staff at the Town and Country Health Care Center, and by everyone who claimed her as their Aunt Lily.
