Lewis R. Capone, 83, died on Friday, April 26, 2024 surrounded by his family at High Pointe House in Haverhill. He was the beloved husband of Leona D. (Roy) Capone, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage with this year.
He was born in Winchester, MA on June 22, 1940 and was a son of the late Florence (White) and Daniel Capone. Upon graduating from high school, Lewis went on to proudly serve in the United States Marine Corps, where he truly loved serving and protecting his country.
Prior to his retirement, he worked in the maintenance department for the University of UMASS Lowell.
Lewis loved watching sports and traveling to Las Vegas. Leona and him enjoyed going on cruises and anywhere else an adventure would take them.
In addition to his wife Leona, Lewis is survived and will be deeply missed by his son, Lewis Capone of North Carolina, his step-son, Randy Cormier of Lowell, his step-daughter, Lisa Petersen and her husband Price of Windham, NH; his three grandchildren, Tiffany Candy and her husband Gary and their son Glenn and Matthew and Hannah Petersen; his brothers, Daniel and William Capone both of Lowell; his sisters, Betty Lynch of Meredith, NH and Dottie Core of Arkansas; his sister-in-law, Phyllis Goyette and her husband Hank; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Frankie Capone, Albert Capone, Delene Johnson and Barbara Jewel, his step-daughter, Linda Cormier and his brother-in-law, Gerald Roy.
All services were held privately. Burial took place in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. Donations may be made in Lewis’ memory to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Alzheimer’s Association, MA/NH Chapter, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
