LOWELL - Lester G. Waterhouse, 78, a resident of the Belvidere section of Lowell, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy L. (Sheehan) Waterhouse, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.
Born in Lowell on May 6, 1942, he was the son of the late Lester W. and Philomena (Baeyens) Waterhouse.
Lester was a United States Air Force veteran serving in the Vietnam War and was Honorably Discharged in 1968 with the rank of Sergeant.
He was a graduate of St. Michael School, Lowell Trade High School, East Coast Aeronautical School, Lee Institute of Real State and Sale Carnegie Business Institute.
In his last few years he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a service Technician. Previous to that he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic at State Equipment in Burlington, MA. He was also employed by Northeast Airlines and Stott Real Estate.He was a member of the U.S. Postal Workers' Union and the Local 4D International Union of Operating Engineers.
He was also an avid accordion enthusiast having studied with Ernie Woessner, John Szetala, Phil Russo and accordion virtuoso Frank Gaviani and Charles Magnate.
As well as being a deeply spiritual person involved with the Immaculate Conception Church in Lowell, he was an especially devoted family man. Lester valued his time with his friends and family above all else. He frequently vacationed with his family and most importantly enjoyed Sunday dinners with friends and family.
In addition to his wife Dorothy, he leaves two sons and their spouses, Kevin F. and Sarah (Flynn) Waterhouse and Keith W. and Joyce (Plummer) Waterhouse; five grandchildren, Jack, Dustin, Drew, Samantha and Ryleigh Waterhouse; a sister, Rita Levesque and her husband Rene, Judy Wilson and her husband Gerald (deceased); also many loving nieces and nephews. Lester is also survived by his uncle, Harold Waterhouse and his wife Marion. He was the brother of the late Lillian Stott and Marie Maniatakos.
Relatives and friends are invited to Lester's Life Celebration on Monday, from 4 until 8 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 10 AM in the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow in the Westlawn Cemetery.
