Leonel "Nel" Chandonnet, 76, a longtime Dracut resident, died Thursday May 9, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Jeannette (Geoffroy) Chandonnet of Dracut with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.
Born on November 6, 1936, he was a son of the late George and Marie-Ange (Boucher) Chandonnet.
Nel proudly served in the United States National Guard.
Mr. Chandonnet worked for twenty years at Boucher Bros. Movers before retiring from Freudenberg Nonwovens in Lowell.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David Chandonnet and his wife, Michelle of Tyngsboro, Gary Chandonnet and his wife, Alicia of Lowell; a daughter in law, Sharon Chandonnet of Lowell. He was the father of the late Roger Chandonnet who died on November 5, 2006 in a camping accident. He is also survived by a sister Doris Lapointe and her husband, Roland of Dracut; a sister in law, Susan Geoffroy of Nashua, NH; two granddaughters, Renée Falardeau and her husband, John of Dracut, Jamie Masson and her husband, Ronald of Salem, NH; five grandsons, Scott Chandonnet of Lowell, Brian Chandonnet of Tyngsboro, Robert Peterson and his wife, Laura of Waltham, David Asselin of Lowell, Mark Asselin of Lowell; twelve great grandchildren, Cameron, Nathan, Aryana, Aaron, Jon, Brayden, Jeremy, Adam, Tyler, Benjamin, Hayleigh and Jacob; several nieces and nephews. Leonel was the brother of the late Roland, Maurice, Normand, Leo and Andre Chandonnet, Cecile Marcoullier and Pauline Gendreau.
