Leonard G. Whitney, Sr.

Leonard G. Whitney, Sr., age 83, died at home on Friday, August 30, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Pamela J. (Clement) Whitney, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.

He was born in Lowell on July 2, 1941 and was a son of the late Irene (McDowell) and Giles Whitney.

Leonard was a collector of many odd and end things and would often be found seeking such things at various yard sales and flea markets. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and playing cards.

In addition to his wife Pam, Leonard is survived by his two sons, Leonard G. Whitney, Jr. and his fiancé, Jessica Valentine of Londonderry, NH and James Whitney and his wife, Kristen of Atkinson, NH; his three grandchildren, Cameron, Jillian and Katie; his brother, Robert Whitney and his wife, Ruth of Chelmsford; as well as many other family and friends.

He is predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Dawn Whitney.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Leonard’s Life Celebration on Friday, September 6, 2024 from 10 AM until 12 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell followed by his funeral service at 1 PM at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leonard’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association MA/NH Chapter, 320 Nevada Street, Suite 201, Newton, MA 02460.
