Leon Lemire. Loving Grandfather
LOWELL - Leon Lemire, 84, a resident of the Pawtucketville section of Lowell, passed away at his home on Sunday morning, March 14, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Louise (Dodier) Lemire, with whom he celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on August 6, 2009.
Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec on February 2, 1926, he was a son of the late Joseph and Helen (Champigny) Lemire.
Leon moved from Sherbrooke, Quebec in 1963 and worked as a plumber until 1976 when he was forced to retire due to an injury.
Mr. Lemire loved camping and was a member of the Club Passe - Temps.
Besides his wife he leaves his daughter and her husband, Francine and Roger Morrissette of Lowell; a daughter-in-law, Gloria (Isabelle) Lemire of Dracut; two grandsons, Michael Lemire of Center Barnstead, NH and Jeffrey Morrissette of Lowell; three granddaughters, Stephanie Morrissette of Lowell, Linda Noel of Goffstown, NH and Angela Noel of Nashua, NH; three brothers, Marcel, Jean Renee and Franceois Lemire, all of Sherbrooke, Quebec; two sisters, Therese Laflour and Pauline Lemire, both of Sherbrooke, Quebec; two sisters-in-law, Denise Lemire of Sherbrooke, Quebec and Jeannine (Dodier) McKinnon of Dracut; a brother-in-law,
Claude Rousseau of Cowenville, Quebec; also many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Andre Lemire who died August 19, 2008, and brother of the late Emilien and Albert Lemire, Yvette Larocque, Gertrude Rousseau and Jeannine Lemire.
The family also wants to thank Pauline Knight for her love and support during his last few days of his life.
