Leo N. Dalphond, 80, of Dracut Ma, died suddenly on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Broward County Medical Center, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was married to Christine (Tina Pappanotas) Dalphond with whom they recently celebrated 58 years of marriage February, 2015.
Born in Lowell Ma., on October 22, 1934, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Alice (Durand) Dalphond. He was also the step son of the late Alice (Lahaie) Dalphond, who raised him with his father following his mother's death. Leo attended St. Louis de France School. He attended and graduated from Lowell High School in 1954 where he was a standout running back and kicker, wearing No. 16.
Leo decided to serve in the US Navy Reserves where he was stationed in Newport Rhode Island and served 2 years. Leo was a successful entrepreneur in the local area establishing several businesses, Dalphond Dairy, Dalphond Oil Co, Dalphonds' Restaurant, and before retiring in 2003, he was the owner of Vic's Pastry in the Centralville section of Lowell, Ma. He was an avid fan and supporter of all New England Professional and College sports teams.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, David Dalphond of Dracut Ma, three daughters, Donna and her husband Brian Nastek of Fairfield Maine, Doreen and her husband Roger Matte of Belmont NH, Darlene and her husband Steven Lyman of Hudson NH; two brothers, Donald Dalphond of Windham NH and George and Maynon Dalphond of Bellvue Nebraska.
He was very proud of the 9 grandchildren he leaves, Courtney Dalphond, Erik Stone, Nicholas Matte, Thomas Matte, Sarah (Stone) Giordano, Hilary (Matte) Young, Devan Lyman, Olivia Nastek and Lydia Lyman and leaves many nieces and nephews. He also leaves very dear friends Ted & Carole McPhee of Bristol Ct.
He was predeceased by two brothers Roland Dalphond of Lowell Ma and Raymond Dalphond of Chelmsford Ma.
