Leo J. Carbonneau

LOWELL - Leo J. Carbonneau, Sr., 82, a Lowell resident for the past 43 years, died Thursday March 20, 2008 at his home following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Sylvia E. (Dominguez) Carbonneau.
Born in Lowell on January 6, 1926, he was a son of the late Charles and Bernadette (Ayotte) Carbonneau.
Mr. Carbonneau attended Lowell Schools and following graduation enlisted with the United States Navy serving during World War II from 1944 until 1946. He then enlisted with the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. He spent 16 years in all with the armed forces serving with the Navy, Air Force, Army and Coast Guard. Later in life he served for 16 years with the Massachusetts Army National Guard being discharged in 1986.
He was a life member of the VFW, Walker Rogers Post 662 and a member of the Chelmsford American Legion, Post 212.
Mr. Carbonneau retired from Wang Laboratories of Lowell where he was employed as a chef in the kitchen.
He was an active member of St. Margaret Church.
He enjoyed going to Atlantic City with the members of the Lowell Senior Citizens. An avid card player, he enjoyed playing poker, slot machines and cribbage.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Crystal Marie Carbonneau and her life partner Deborah Matthews of Belleville, MI, Charline Ann Miller and her husband Stephen of Lowell, Leo J. Carbonneau, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Lowell, Veda Kathren Shirazi-Earnshaw and her husband Charles of Mount Laurel, NJ and Gregory Allen Shirazi of Exteter, NH; his brothers, Simon Carbonneau of FL, Joseph Carbonneau and his wife Agnes of Dracut and Emile Carbonneau and his wife Dorothy of Lowell; his sisters, Claire Proulx of Lowell , Anna Arsenault of Lowell , Rita Brunelle of Dracut and Therese Pomerleau of Lowell; his grandchildren, Kaitlynn Pike, Victoria Lemery, Felicia Lemery, Kayla Miller, Stephenie Miller, Jacob Carbonneau, L.J. Carbonneau III, Kameron Carbonneau, Valerie Earnshaw, Stephen Earnshaw, Kelly Earnshaw, Greg Haam, Greg Shirazi, Jr. and Levi Shirazi; his sisters-in-law, Alice Carbonneau, Doris Carbonneau and Irene Carbonneau, all of Lowell; also many nieces and nephews among whom is his niece Rita Proulx of Lowell with whom he had a special bond and a very good friend, Jack Kelly. He was a brother of the late Angela Chausse, Bea Desrosiers, Armond, Victor, Alfred and Jeannette Carbonneau.
