Kevin D. Heffernan

Kevin D. (Heff) Heffernan of Dracut, age 78, passed away on September 23, 2026, after a brief illness. He was born in Boston, MA, on April 3, 1948. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. Kevin worked for the Lowell National Historical Park Service for over 30 years, most notably as a trolley motorman rolling through the streets of downtown Lowell. Always a proud Irishman, Kevin enjoyed family, friends, music, spirits and watching the Boston Red Sox.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Patricia (Molloy) Heffernan of Dracut, his siblings Maureen Logue and her husband Patrick of Dracut, Jack Heffernan and his wife Sheryl of The Villages, FL, Brian Heffernan of Chelmsford, and Neil Heffernan and his wife Donna of Auburn, NH, his brothers-in-law, Steve Molloy of Hudson, NH, Paul Molloy and his wife Karen of Westford, sisters-in-law, Barbara Viti of Nashua, NH, Natalie Newell and her husband Don of Nashua, NH and Susan Murphy and her husband Brian of Lowell,  as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents John and Mary (Grimes) Heffernan, his sister Elizabeth Batten and her husband Ralph and his brother Gary Heffernan.

Relatives and friends are invited to Kevin's Memorial Visitation on Tuesday, October 6, from 4 until 7 PM at the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth Street. Committal Services and Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, October 7, at 11 AM in the Pine Ridge Cemetery, 130 Billerica Road, Chelmsford. Those who wish to join the procession may gather at the funeral home at 9:30 AM.
