Kenneth E. Connor… age 70, Vietnam Veteran
LOWELL - Kenneth E. Connor, 70, a resident of the Pawtucketville section of Lowell, died unexpectedly Sunday evening, November 25, 2012 at Lowell General Hospital-Saints Campus. He was the husband of Bettejane (Sloan) Connor with whom he would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on February 24, 2013.
Born in Lynn, MA on November 10, 1942, he was a son of the late Ralph and Ethel (Monks) Connor.
Mr. Connor attended St. Joseph's Parochial School and Lynn English High School where he played football and was known as "Mr. Bulldog".
Following High School was drafted in to the U.S. Army and did a tour in Vietnam in the Phu Loi and Saigon provinces, receiving an honorable discharge on January 4, 1968.
He worked for Grant's Department Store from 1968-1973, Leone's Furniture from 1974-1993, Bradford Furniture from 1993-1996 and Hitchcock Furniture from 1996-2001 from where he retired.
He belonged to the Lowell Lodge of Elks #87, the American Legion Post 0122, the Knights of Columbus in Lynn and the American Veterans for the Veterans of the Vietnam War.
Mr. Connor supported many organizations including St. Jude's Hospital and the Home for Little Wanderers.
He was an avid golfer and belonged to a league at the Tyngsboro Country Club.
He was a communicant of St. Rita's Church where he had been an usher since 2004.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter Allyson Marie Connor of Dracut; two brothers, Robert John Connor and his wife Arlene of Nahant and Jerry Connor and his companion Vialko of Lynn; a sister, Ann Grieves and her husband Phil of Salem; several nieces and nephews including James Ricoy, Jocelyn Mendoca, Jack, Paul and Michael Connor, Shane and Colin Sloan, Beth Doran, Dawn Girard, Joey Parshley, Joshua, Shayne, J.L. and Tanya Connor; his Godchildren, Julie Desmarais, John Monks and James A. Ricoy, III; a brother in law and two sisters-in-law, Walter and Denise Riessland of Tyngsboro and Mary Sloan of Lowell; also many grand nieces and grand nephews. He was the brother in law of the late David Sloan.
