Kathryn M. "Katy" Murphy was granted her angel wings while in the loving arms of her parents on Saturday August 16, 2014 at Boston Children's Hospital. On February 13, 2013, Katy underwent a long awaited heart transplant. She was the adored daughter of Michael and Amiee (Sullivan) Murphy of Amesbury.
Katy was born on December 20, 2007 in Boston. In June of this year, Katy completed Kindergarten. In school she loved Free Choice and Recess. Crafting, drawing and creating were the things that Katy was famous for. She loved learning Ballet, Tap, and Hip Hop from her wonderful dance teachers. Soccer was Katy's sport of choice. She was musical and could sing every word to the soundtrack of The Little Mermaid movie, her favorite song being "Part of Your World."
Above all things, Katy was strong. Although her heart was fragile, her strength and courage was and will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew and loved this funny and sweet little girl. Katy's illuminating smile and spirit will remain in the hearts of all those lives she was a part of. She was a Rock Star in every sense of the phrase.
Katy and her whole family were so grateful to have the dedication, support and love that they were shown over the years, by the fantastic doctors, nurses and staff at Boston Children's Hospital. They were by the Murphy Family's side through good times and in bad and words cannot express the gratitude that they will forever feel.
In addition to her parents, Katy is survived by her brother and best friend, Patrick Murphy of Amesbury; a brother, Justin Murphy and his wife, Kristyna of Chelmsford; her maternal grandparents, Philip and Tracy Sullivan of Burlington and Marie Sullivan of Billerica; her aunts and uncles, Daniel and Kim Murphy of Clinton, Corinne and Shawn Power of Woburn, Philip Sullivan, Jr. of Billerica; many cousins and numerous friends. Katy was excited to have a little sister on the way and anticipated her October arrival.
