Kathleen M. “Kay” Kane… Lifelong St. Michael Church Parishioner
LOWELL – Kathleen M. “Kay” (Kilbride) Kane, 85, a lifelong resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, died Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center, Burlington, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late James F. Kane who died in 2000.
Born in Lowell on June 8, 1925, she was a daughter of the late William F. and Mary A. (O’Neil) Kilbride.
Mrs. Kane was educated in Lowell Schools.
She worked for many years at the former Bon Marche Company of Lowell, but retired from the former Central Savings Bank.
A lifelong communicant of St. Michael Church, she was a member of the League of Catholic Women, the Holy Rosary Sodality, the Legion of Mary and the St. Dominic Club.
Kay loved meeting and travelling with relatives and friends. She also enjoyed baking and cooking.
She was a Past President of the East End Club Ladies Auxiliary.
Kay is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen A. and Richard L. Mercier of Palm Harbor, FL and Kathleen M. and Thomas F. Dolan of Lowell; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James E. and Margaret R. (Dolan) Kane of Lowell and Patrick M. Kane of Waltham; a sister, Anne Henderson of Nashua, NH; a brother, Walter Kilbride of Pelham, NH; a sister-in-law, Rita Kelleher of Lowell; ten grandchildren, Patrick Mercier and his wife Krista, Christopher Mercier and his wife Shana, Lee Ann Mercier, Lisa Northrup and her husband William, Edward Kane, Stephen Kane, Joseph Kane and his wife Destiny, Erin Kane, Michael Schimank and Derek Dolan; four great grandchildren, James and Ryan Mercier, Declan Kane and Rowan Northrup; also several nieces and nephews. She was the mother-in-law of the late Teresa (Abraham) Kane and sister of the late Gerald “Jake” Kilbride and William “Pat” Kilbride.
