LOWELL - Miss Julie Kosik, R.N., 85, a lifelong resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, died Friday morning, January 9, 2009 at a local nursing home following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Lowell on September 16, 1923, a daughter of the late Jacob and Catherine (Pac) Kosik.
Miss Kosik was a graduate of Lowell High School and St. John's School of Nursing. To Julie, nursing was more than a profession, it was a vocation that she took great pleasure in up until her retirement.
During World War II, Julie served as a nurse in a U.S. Naval Hospital in Maryland.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as an R.N. at the former St. John's Hospital, most of her years spent in the maternity ward.
She was a communicant of St. Michael Church and was a member of the League of Catholic Women.
Miss Kosik is the last child of seven children and was predeceased by her siblings Walter J. Kosik, Joanne Durfee, Joseph Kosik, Stanley W. Kosik, Sr., Helen C. Kosik and Alice T. Moran, R.N.
She is survived by nephews and nieces, Walter J. Kosik and his wife Patricia of Pelham, NH, Marcia B. McGrail of Lowell, Carole T. McPhee and her husband Edward T. of Bristol, CT, Catherine Soukaras and her husband Nicholas of Nashua, NH, Patricia McKay and her husband James of Methuen, Stanley W. Kosik, Jr. of Lowell and Carol Lavoie and her husband David of Nashua; also many grandnieces and grandnephews. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Helen M. Kosik of Lowell.
