Lowell - Julie (Lopes) Dauphinais, widow of Robert Dauphinais who died in 1978, a Lowell resident died Monday August 24, 2009 at the Fairhaven Nursing home following a long struggle with Alzheimer's. She was 82.
She was born in Lowell on July 21, 1927, a daughter of the late Manuel and Lena (Silva) Lopes.
Julie and her husband owned and operated Dauph's Corner Store on Lincoln Street, Julie's Diner on Lawrence Street, and Dauphinais Real Estate in Lowell. Recently Julie worked for Vic's Bakery and the Bakery Dept. at Hannaford Supermarket on Plain Street in Lowell.
Survivors include two sisters and a brother in law, Mildred Urbanek of Lowell, Dorothy and Nat Ambrosini of Dracut; a brother in law Albert Reeves of CA; a sister in law Irene Lopes of Lowell; seventeen nieces and nephews; 39 great nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Manuel Lopes, Joseph Lopes, Mary Silva, Alice Queenan, and Virginia Reeves. She was predeceased by three nieces and nephews.
Julie's family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Fairhaven Nursing Home for the excellent care and love showed to Julie in the past months. They would also like to thank the Hospice group she has been fortunate to have for the past few weeks.
