Joyce A. Silk Loving mother, grandmother, sister
LOWELL - Joyce A. Silk, 63, a resident of the Pawtucketville section of Lowell, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Lowell on October 1, 1959, she was a daughter of the late Arlene J. (Devno) Silk and Robert A. Silk, Sr.
Joyce was a graduate of Greater Lowell Technical High School, Class of 1977. Following graduation she began her career at Greater Lowell as an administrative assistant. She continued in that capacity until 2003, transferring to the Adult Post Secondary Program as administrative secretary until her retirement in 2019 following 41 years of service. It was here that she met and assisted many wonderful students looking at advance their careers as an LPN. She also worked part time at Willows Racquet and Fitness Centre in North Andover.
Joyce’s hobbies included photography, quilting and knitting, donating many knit hats to the Lowell General Hospital Cancer Center for their patients.
She was a member of the Rainbow for Girls Organization and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Family was most important to Joyce, especially her loving grandchildren who she loved to spoil and spend time with.
Joyce is survived by her daughter and her husband, Kathryn “Katie” (Hanks) Campbell and her husband Nicholas; her grandchildren, Gage Scott, Abigail and Callen Campbell; three sisters, Brenda Mercier and her husband Dennis, Heather Silk, Bonnie Hoare and her husband Bob; also several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her former husband, David Hanks and his husband Donald Cloutier.
Relatives and friends are invited to Joyce’s Life Celebration on Friday from 4 until 8 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street. Her Funeral Service will take place Saturday morning at 10 AM in the Funeral Home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to: Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or to The Cancer Center at Lowell General Hospital, 295 Varnum Ave. Lowell, MA 01854.
