Joseph Paul M. Roberts, 60, a Dracut resident, died Wednesday August 5, 2009 at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital.
Born in Lowell on October 6, 1948, Paul was a son of the late Charles and Yvonne (Cadorette) Roberts.
Paul graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Lowell, MA and enlisted in the United States Air Force shortly after graduation.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, Paul served with the Air Force from 1966 until 1970 where he excelled as an aircraft mechanic. During his service in the Air Force, he was awarded the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon and the National Defense Service Medal.
Paul had worked for many years as a small engine mechanic before becoming ill. He had also spent some time studying to be a pharmacy technician but decided that small engine repair was a better fit.
He had a great love of music, especially Oldies, Hampton Beach and motorcycles.
He was a loving brother and uncle to his many nieces and nephews and they will always remember him for his wit, humor and his ability to make everyone smile.
Survivors include a sister, Pauline F. Desrosiers of Lowell; a brother, Gerard M. Roberts and his wife, Betty of NC; a sister-in-law, Sandra Roberts of Schenectady, NY; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great grandnieces and great grandnephews. Paul will also leave behind many of his 'brothers" in 2 B at the VA Hospital in Bedford along with all of the wonderful staff members there who always showed him warmth, care and compassion.
He was the brother of the late George Roberts, Dorothy Roberts and Therese Boissonneault and was the brother-in-law of the late Lionel Desrosiers and Maurice Boissonneault.
