Joseph Paul LaBelle of Chelmsford, age 86, passed away on June 8, 2016 after a period of declining health. He was the loving husband of Loretta M. (Flynn) LaBelle, with whom he celebrated their sixty-first wedding anniversary on June 4.
He was born in North Billerica on August 6, 1929, son of the late Thomas P. and Evelyn M. (Gagnon) LaBelle. He graduated from St Michael's School in Lowell and Boston College High School after completing a three-year accelerated program. He resided in Lowell until 1971; in New Carlisle, OH until 1973; and San Antonio, TX until 1978. Returning to New England, he resided in Chelmsford and was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Lowell.
During the Korean War, Mr. LaBelle served with the U.S. Air Force Security Service from 1948 to 1952 that included duty locations in Japan and Germany. Also, as a civilian, he worked for the Air Force as a Logistics Manager for 33 years at Hanscom AFB, MA; Wright-Patterson AFB, OH; and Kelly AFB, TX until he retired from government service in 1985. Subsequent to that time, he worked for Dynamics Research Corporation as a Logistics Engineer for five years.
He is survived by a loving family of three sons: the Rev. Joseph T. LaBelle, OMI of San Antonio; John G. and Muriel of Washington, DC; and David P. of Bristol, NH; two daughters: Mary Margaret Neuenfeldt of Colorado Springs, CO; and Judith Ann of Gilford, NH; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers: Bro. Paul, CFX; and Robert and Anne of Nashua, New Hampshire. Also, two sisters: Lillian Woolfall of Lowell; and Evelyn Carrigg of California; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was also the brother of the late Edward LaBelle of North Easton; and the late Irene Paquin of Dracut.
