Joseph W.A. "Arthur" Hall, 93, a lifelong Dracut resident died peacefully on Wednesday June 19, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Bertha (Daigle) Hall.
Born in Dracut on April 8, 1920, he was a son of the late Noe A. and Eva (Moisan) Hall. A graduate of Lowell High School, Arthur worked at the Chandler Machine Shop in Ayer, MA. In 1942, Arthur enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He served as a fighter plane mechanic in Tallahassee and the Philippines while preparing for the anticipated invasion of Japan. Following Japan's surrender, he served in the Army of Occupation. Arthur was honorably discharged in 1946 having earned the rank of Technical Sergeant. Upon his return from the military he began his career as a carpenter working for the Archdiocese of Boston at the former Keith Hall, Keith Academy, St. Margaret Parish and other Archdiocesan properties. He later continued his service to the Archdiocese as the foreman at both St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell and St. Mary Cemetery in Tewksbury until his retirement in 1985.
He was a faithful communicant of Ste. Marguerite d'Youville Parish in Dracut and prior to that a parishioner of the former Ste. Jeanne d'Arc Church in Lowell. He also held membership in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Union. Arthur enjoyed following both the Red Sox and Patriots. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family, especially summer gatherings by the pool.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth A. Hall of Dracut and his companion, Cindy Gale of Nashua, NH, Arthur J. Hall and his wife, Suzanne of Dracut; a daughter, Carmen Bellerose and her husband, Kenneth of Pelham, NH. He was the father of the late Denise Hall. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Keith Bellerose and his wife, Maria of Lowell; Kristen (Bellerose) Connolly and her husband, John of Pelham, NH; Lauren (Hall) Grymek and her husband, Gregory of South Boston; Gregory Hall of New York City, NY; William Hall of Roslindale; and Jeffrey Hall of Dracut; four great grandchildren, Kenneth and Natalia Bellerose, Stella Grymek and Ava Connolly; a brother, Armand Hall and his wife Gabrielle of Newport Richey, FL; a sister-in-law, Therese Hall of Lowell; a family friend, Brandon Bonnell of Dunstable; many nieces and nephews. Arthur was the brother of the late Rita Boyer, Priscilla Luther, Juliette Mailloux, Pauline Kunzler and Raymond A. Hall.
