Joseph H. Gagnon

Dracut - Joseph H. Gagnon, 84, husband of Theresa C. (Sirois) Gagnon, with whom he celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on February 2nd, a Dracut resident for the past 10 years, died Monday April 4, 2005, at the Saints Memorial Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born in Lawrence on June 13, 1920, a son of the late Ernest and Lumina (Boucher) Gagnon.
Mr. Gagnon Attended St. Anne School and industrial school in Lawrence.
He was a WWII Army Veteran having served in the 112th Anti Artillery Aircraft Battalion with the rank of CPL, serving in North Africa, and the invasion of Southern France up to Rhineland. He received two Bronze Stars, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. Prior to his retirement he was employed as Classified Water Machinist, for the city of Lawrence in the Water Filtering and Pumping Stations, having retired in 1977 after 27 years of service.
Mr. Gagnon was a communicant of St. Francis Church in Dracut, a member of the former Holy Name Society in Lawrence for over 65 years, the VFW Walker Rogers Post 662 in Lowell, the Catholic War Veterans, the Dracut Senior Citizens Club, and the Centralville Senior Citizens Club. He also enjoyed gardening and playing cards.
Surviving him besides his wife is a daughter, Anne Marie T. Gagnon of Dracut; a brother and sister in law, Ernest and Eugene Gagnon of Manchester, CT; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Michael Gagnon USN, killed during the Vietnam War on September 11, 1974.
