Tewksbury – Joseph E. Emond, Jr., died on Tuesday July 17, 2012, with his family by his side, following a courageous battle with kidney cancer. He was the beloved husband of Margaret (Clark) Emond, with whom he celebrated 53 years of marriage this past May. He was 77.
Joe was born in Lowell on April 6, 1935, a son of the late Joseph E. and Ursula (Shea) Emond.
He graduated from Saugus High School and attended Northeastern University. Joe moved to Wilmington where he and Peg lived for many years prior to moving to Tewksbury.
He served in the National Guard for 7 years, and was a marine electrician and Navy contractor for several years. He retired as a truck driver for the Boston Globe.
Joe enjoyed music, NASCAR and sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. His greatest pleasure was fishing and spending time with his family at his camp in Ossipee, NH.
Surviving him besides his wife are his children and their spouses, Beth and Rob Muse of Weare, NH, Mike and Carrie Emond, Michelle and Mike Boermeester all of Dracut; a daughter in law Helen Hamilton of Marlboro; six grandchildren, Marc, Kristen, Andrew, and Daniel Emond, Sarah and Brooke Boermeester; two brothers and sisters in law, James and Rosemary Emond of Seabrook, NH, John and Mary Emond of Silver Spring, MD; sisters in law and brothers in law, Ruth and George Garrett of Haverhill, Norma and Dana Martin of Wiscasset, ME, Sunny and Paul Sullivan of Atkinson, NH, Helen and Stephan Connelly of Tewksbury; and his loyal dog Smokey. He was also the father of the late Joseph E. "Jay" Emond III, and brother in law of the late Naomi Trioli.
