Joseph M. Chaisson

Lowell - Joseph M. "Mel" Chaisson, 83, beloved husband of Margaret S. (Bruner) Chaisson, a resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, died Thursday November 22, at the Saints Medical Center.
He was born in Lowell on February 18, 1924, a son of the late Joseph and Cecile (Leclair) Chaisson.
Mel was a Sergeant in the Army during WWII, serving with Company C of the 52nd Armored Infantry Battalion. He received a Purple Heart on December 19, 1944 for injuries received in action in Luxembourg.
Mel retired from the Veterans Administration hospital in Bedford where he worked in the maintenance department.
He held membership in the Centralville Social Club, and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Surviving him besides his wife is a sister in law Julie Chaisson of Dracut; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was also the brother of the late Rita Foote, Beatrice Marchand, Alphonse, Joseph and Maurice Chaisson.
