Joseph L. Auguste

July 5, 1954 — July 25, 2025

Lowell

Joseph Lucien Auguste entered eternal rest on July 25, 2025, at the age of 71. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and raised in Léogâne, Joseph carried the spirit of his homeland with him throughout his life.

At the age of 23, he married his beautiful wife, Paulette, who was just 18 at the time. Together they built a life grounded in love, faith and family, a bond that lasted nearly five decades.

At 28, Joseph migrated to the United States, first settling in Brooklyn, New York, in 1982. In 1997, he moved to Massachusetts, where he continued his mission of building a life rooted in faith, service and family.

Joseph was a man of deep compassion, unwavering faith and generous spirit. He made it a priority to return to Haiti many times over the years not for leisure but for legacy. He began the construction of a church in the same town where he was raised. Although he didn’t live to see it completed, the church continues to host services and remains a symbol of his heart for his community.

He also paid school tuition for countless children, covering education from kindergarten through ninth grade giving opportunities to those who might not have had them otherwise.

He loved going to the beach, eating lambi and sipping fresh coconut water. He found joy in family gatherings from weekly Sunday meetings to dragging the kids to Haymarket on Saturdays. He loved to cook for the family, always making sure everyone was full and taken care of. Feeding others was one of his many ways of showing love.

He was a loving man to his entire family always ready with a warm smile, a good story and fatherly wisdom. But if his children, nieces or nephews ever stepped out of line, he was on his way with the belt in one hand and discipline in the other. Not out of anger but out of love and a deep desire to raise them right.

He loved to travel, especially on mission trips with his church and was always ready to share a thoughtful word or lend a helping hand. Joseph was approachable, admired by many and respected by all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel Auguste and Ann Marie Petitne; his brother, Lionel Auguste; his son, Abraham Auguste and his granddaughter, Jayleah Auguste.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Paulette Auguste; his children, Jensen, Joseph Jr., Junia, Nehemiah, Ricardo, Colette, Diana, Parvel and Shelby Auguste; his siblings, Rosemary, Carol and Edner Auguste and his 21 grandchildren. who will carry forward the strength, wisdom and love he gave them.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 8 until 9 AM in the WALTHAM HAITIAN CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE, 1450 Trapelo Road, Waltham, MA 02451. His funeral service will immediately be celebrated in the church from 9 until 11 AM. Burial to follow in Lowell Cemetery, 77 Knapp Avenue, Lowell, MA 01852.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
