DRACUT - John F. "Teddy" Wood, 91, a Dracut resident, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at the Lowell General Hospital with his loving family by his side after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Lillian M. (Mullin) Wood.
Born in Lowell on September 22, 1925, he was a son of the late Samuel J. and Mary A. (Cummings) Wood.
Along with his parents, Teddy established Wood Brothers Florist in the 1940's.
He was a lifelong communicant of St. Michael Church. Teddy was educated at St. Michael School, Lowell High School and Rittners School of Floral Design.
Teddy cherished the "sport of kings" at Rockingham Park.
He was Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Dale Carnegie Alumni & and active participant of the Rosary Circle at the Holy Trinity Church.
He was a friend of Bill W for over 50 years.
He is survived by a sister, Margaret (Wood) Mahoney of Lowell; two brothers, Dr. William B. Wood of Palm Beach, FL and Attorney Joseph V. Wood of Lowell; many nieces, nephews, among whom is his Godson, John S. Mahoney, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Mary, James, Albert and Eugene and his loving niece, Jane.
