John Douglass White, 60, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died Wednesday evening at his home surrounded by his loving wife and friends, following a ten year battle with cancer. He was the husband of Cheryl A. (Gagnon) White of Lowell who survives him.
Born in Lowell on October 1, 1951, he was a son of the late John J. and Eileen N. (Douglass) White. He attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Austin Prep. Following high school Mr. White attended St. Anselm College and Saint Bernard's College in Alabama and received his BA in History and Politics.
For many years Mr. White worked for Trinity Ambulance on the Emergency Medical Response Team until illness forced his retirement. In 1974, he was recognized by the Who's Who among Colleges and Universities. Doug was an avid golfer and was a past member at Abenaqui Country Club in Rye, NH and was a current member at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, NH and enjoyed skiing, traveling with his wife Cheryl and gardening at his Lowell home. He also was a member of Big Brother Big Sister.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a brother in law, Richard J. Gagnon of Santa Monica, CA; a sister in law, Donna L.Gagnon of Lowell; his loving pet, Rocky and many dear friends.
