John T. Stanton

July 4, 1910 — February 8, 2007

John T. "Tommy" Stanton, 96, widower of Blanche L. (Deschenes) Stanton, a resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, died Thursday evening at a local nursing home.
He was born in Fall River, a son of the late William H. and Catherine E. Harmon.
He was employed 44 years as a shop laborer for the B&M Railroad retiring in 1975. His memberships included AARP and the Fireman and Oilers Union.
Mr. Stanton was an avid reader and prior to his wife's death in 1987 enjoyed going dancing, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Brian J. and Mary Jo Stanton of Chelmsford; a daughter and son in law, Shirley and Joseph F. Overend of Syracuse, NY; four grandchildren, Joseph F. Overend III, Monique Cassidy, Matthew H. Stanton, Meghan B. Stanton; five great grandchildren, Joseph F. Overend IV, Kendall B. Stanton, Aiden H. Stanton, Abigail J. Cassidy, Patrick L. Cassidy; four dear friends, Joanna and Michael Rodrigue of Nashua, NH, Shirley Malley, and Diane Muccioli both of Lowell. He was also the great grandfather of the late Declan T. Cassidy.
