John J. Sousa III, beloved husband of Carrie (DiRocco) Sousa with whom he has been married for 19 years, passed away unexpectedly on December 20, 2017.
He was born in Lowell on March 30, 1972, a son of Sheila (Pryce) Sousa and John Joseph Sousa II who survive him.
John grew up in the Pawtucketville section of Lowell and was an avid baseball, and hockey player in his youth. He was a 1990 graduate of Lowell High School, where he also played hockey during his four years there.
Golf has become the sport John has been most passionate about. He looked forward to his many golf outings with his son John. Although he never worked there, he has won the Raytheon Golf League Championship at Hickory Hill many times.
John loved boating and fishing and spending time at Seabrook Beach. He enjoyed being outdoors. Whether it was doing yard work or tending to his garden his beloved chickens would follow him around everywhere. He was an avid Boston sports fan, watching the Patriots, Bruins and Red Sox.
Family and friends meant everything to John. He loved to be around them all. He recently enjoyed a trip to Maine with his childhood friends.
Surviving him besides his wife and parents are his two children, Kayla Ann Sousa, John Joseph Sousa IV; brothers and sister in law, James Sousa, Jeffery and Erin Sousa, mother in law and father in law, Norman and Carol DiRocco; brother in law, Keith DiRocco; sister in law Paula Dumont; aunt and Godmother Barbara Cronin; cousins, DJ and Bill Cronin; nieces and nephews, Courtney and Hannah Dumont, Amore, Brayden, and Kayden DiRocco, Caitlin and Jack Sousa; and many friends. He was also the brother in law of the late Michael S. Dumont.
