Obituary

Lowell - John W. Riley, 72, widower of Theresa M. (Vigeant) Riley, died Sunday February 13, 2005, at his Lowell, residence.
He was born in Lowell on August 23, 1932, a son of the late Thomas and Rose (O'Brien) Riley.
Mr. Riley was a graduate of St. Michael School and Lowell Trade School. During The Korean Conflict he served with the US Navy.
Prior to his retirement he was employed by the City of Lowell and was the Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Public Works. A communicant of St. Michael Church, he was also a member of the Lowell DAV, the Chelmsford Lodge of Elks, the Merrimack Valley Municipal Employees Association, the Retired State, County, and Municipal Employees Association and AARP.
Survivors include five daughters and four sons in law, Donna M. Riley of Lowell, Jacqueline M. and David Faneuf of Lowell, Deborah A. and Stephen Szczechura of Pelham, NH, Pauline C. and Michael Noble of Lowell, Barbara A. and Mark Dougherty of Dracut; three sons and daughters in law, John T. and Debbie (Burgoyne) Riley of Dracut, Richard F. and Karen (Cox) Riley of Lowell, Edward D. and Karen (Paquette) Riley of Lowell; a sister in law Irene (Farrell) Riley of Maine; 14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a dear cousin, Dottie Sisti of Salem, NH; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Thomas Riley, and Margaret Nolan.
